COMMUNITY NOTICEBOARD:
DANCE CLASSES: Aisling Walsh, Dance Academy will continue in Durrow Community Hall on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7pm for three to six year olds and from 7pm to 8pm for seven years to teenagers.
LITTLE OAKS PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP: We are meeting every Tuesday mornings from 10.00am to 12.00pm in the Presentation Centre (left side of the Catholic Church). All mums and dads are welcome to join us for a cuppa. Please Note: The Group will be running in June and July but will be taking a break in August (back on Tuesday 2nd September). Thanks to everybody who is coming.

ABBEYLEIX FURTHER EDUCATION CENTRE: Post Leaving Certificate FETAC Level 5. Courses commence September 2008. Nursing Studies, Fashion Design, Business Studies Secretarial, Business Admin with ECDL, Arts, Craft, Design, Portfolio Preparation. New Courses: Community Care, Media Production and Business Admin with Telesales. Enrolment Evening: Monday 16th May from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Applicants must be over 16 years of age. PLC maintenance grants are available for qualifying participants.
VOTE FOR THE CHILDREN: Vote for Laois Children’s Respite, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Text ABBEYLB to 53099. This is part of the AIB Bank Better Ireland Programme.
DURROW SATURDAY MARKET: Home baking and fresh vegetables are available every Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm in the Computer Centre.
LAOIS COUNTY COUNCIL SUMMER ARTS PROGRAMME: Fun drama classes with Julie Duane will be held in the Old Boys National School, Kilkenny Road, Durrow from July 14th to 18th, Monday to Friday, for ages 8 to 12 years from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Prior booking is essential and application forms are available from the Arts Office, Laois County Council (057) 8674341/42 . Cost of weeks drama will be €30 per child.
MONDAY CLUB OUTING TO GALWAY: The Club Members will go on their annual outing from July 22nd - July 25th. This year the outing is to Galway and it includes Hotel accommodation, meals and bus. There are still a few places available on the tour so anyone wishing to go should contact Mrs. Conroy on (057) 8736670 as soon as possible.
PLAIN CHANT 50 YEARS RE-UNION: The members of the Plain Chant Groups who won the competition in 1957 and 1958 are holding a re-union in Cullohill Church on 13th July. Teacher Mary Lalor, who prepared and entered them in the competition is coming from Holland for the celebration. If anyone can remember being in the 1957 group will you please contact (086) 6090378 as we do not have a list of names for that year.
WELCOME HOME WEEK: The following events will be held as part of Welcome Home Week being organised by Durrow Development Forum:
SCHOOL REUNION NIGHT: As part of the Tri Centenary Celebrations a School Reunion Night will be held in The Castle Arms Hotel on Friday, 25th July at 9.00pm. If you would like to organise and reserve a table for your class, please contact Noleen Dunphy (087) 9636460 or Mary Walsh (057) 8736327 as soon as possible.
OPEN AIR MARKET: Also part of the Tri Centenary Celebrations an Open Air Market will be held on The Green on Saturday, August 2nd. Anyone wishing to have a stall on this market should get in touch with Oliver Clooney (057) 8736211.
